Well i am glad i did this subject now it has come to an end it was actually really interesting not like most we do. Probably because the fact that we all have experience with it in our daily life, from something as simple as the phone has now been transformed into the I-phone. as well as this i didn't fully understand the term"Wi-Fi". the world business world goes around this subject for example sales need it specially to access data about customers in order to achieve a sale.
another interesting subject was the subject of "E-sex" i have to say some of the figures were very interesting. it amazed me the effect its actually having on marriages and is probably one of the main reason why they break up.
this subject has transformed the whole way people buy from the comfort of there own home through E-shops, E-Learning one of the most interesting topic here was Learnosity were we got the opportunity to give our idea's on how to improve the business.
In conclusion the subject was well thought and the notes were very good so i would be pretty confident on doing well in the test.

NAMA

We had only come back from Erasmus at Xmas and everybody was talking about this NAMA. "What the hell is it i thought". To me it meant absolutely nothing, or so i thought. I eventually did a bit of research into the topic.
Firstly it stands for the national assets management. Basically what it does its an assets management company dealing with assets transfer ed from the bank."NAMA will not be a bank as it will not be taking deposits from the public and will not have a banking licence. NAMA will have loans on its books based on real physical assets, and while some of these will undoubtedly be of better quality than others, they will be a mix of ‘good or performing loans’ and ‘bad or non performing loans"http://www.moneyguideireland.com/nama-national-asset-management-agency.html.So when i researched this i was kinda like "huh".
So basically NAMA were going to buy all the land and property loans of the six Irish banks with reassurance of a state guarantee. Heres the good bit as i read down the loans that NAMA is going to cover is between 80-90 billion..."yes billion" this is to put leading institution in a position to start lending again. "Getting our selves in more in other words".
Even if these debts are bought by NAMA at two-thirds of their face value – the bill could be in the region of €60 billion. ( Ireland’s national debt is currently €54 billion) http://www.moneyguideireland.com/nama-national-asset-management-agency.html" So i have to ask the question here, why if were in more debt do we want to put ourselves in to even more debt" or maybe this could be a solution to a problem.
.
"I think who ever was part of problem should not be part of the solution".

Collage Life (Start to Finish)

Well what can i say life in Dundalk or should i say "Fundalk", its epic. When i first came to Dundalk i didnt know what to expect. I soon came to realise that Mondays and Thursdays were the new Saturdays and Sundays. I soon became a big fan of the collage social life and funny enough i was good at it too. The main thing about collage is the freedom a person gets as regard to not going to class if you don't want to, but of course that is different this year as i am in my last year.
I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to go on Erasmus in third year after all this i am glad i went because i learned a lot about myself and the culture in a different country. The best thing about the whole experience was the people we met from everywhere in the world and we all still keep in touch!
Now that i am in my final year I'm looking back on my journey that i had. It's hard to believe that it will be all over in a short couple of months of course i will miss the "crack" but most importantly the people. The one's who made collage as it is now. Of course there is more pressure on us this year with projects and exams but there is still a lot fun to be had a long the way. If i was to give one piece of advice it would be "don't take life to serious" its way too short.
"And finally there are a lot of things collage's promise students but the one that is really true is that you will always have friends for life"

M-commerce

The wonderful world of modern technology, i don't even think my generation even remember what it was like not to have a mobile phone. when i was going to school the big thing was the premiership sticker books then all of a sudden these big blocks that people talked into came into place. The first phone i ever saw was a Motorola the thing was as big as your leg and about a stone in weight. O.K. maybe not that much then that Xmas every body had a phone. Nokia 3210 was the most popular at the time with the "best game in the world" "snake" many of the people that went to school mastered this during class with the phone hiding in their copy book. The class would compete to see who got the top score. "I think 3000 was the highest".
With this the beauty of texting had come to the fore. This was important when trying to chat to a girl in class and was also useful to ask your friend was he watching the match last night without being caught talking in class, and of course the snake two had come out for the 3310. This time you could go through walls "class". due to this changing technology new flip phones were coming out and then finally you could get the Internet on the phone and then when we thought it couldn't get any better the "I-phone" came out. This was a whole new world were you could down load music and buy from i-tunes in a matter of a minute. Also with the aid of Amazon and E-bay anybody can buy goods the Ironic thing about this whole thing is that its from a phone and not a computer.....What will it be next ". haahahaha .
Also from a business point of you this allows transactions be done easier. this is especially useful fro sales men to locate data from a phone instead of carrying around a computer. this makes the job easier as you always have your phone on you. This whole paragraph sounds like I'm about 50 years old but " back in my day".

The world of E-sex
Here is the sensitive topic of "sex" or as some people call it the "birds and the bees" in every young persons life this is a sensitive topic that is very important to people of a certain generation. Young people are open to this at all aspects of life especially on the Internet. According to figures 6.5% of
the male population report spending nearly six hours per week engaging in cyber sex. Visits to these sites have doubled between 2001 and 2005 some sites have reported in the region of about 50 million hits, most of these tend to be recreational users. Recreational users are classified as people who use these a couple of hours a week for sexual stimulation and entertainment. These people eventually get Bord and stop.
However this topic can be turned into a serious matter such as destroying a marriage. a study by Dr. Reo Christensen of Miami University found that porn leaves the impression that sex has no relationship to privacy, unrelated to love or commitment to marriage. Fantasying about affairs is actually the first step to an affair. Internet porn is the increasing cause of divorce.
Here are some anti pornography arguments. porn undermines family, authority and society's morals and should be contained, feminists see it as a way to silence and assault women and encourage abuse against women. some believe porn is about power more than sex.
In Conclusion here are some interesting stats. The sex industry has
-57 billion world wide
-25% of the total search engines are porn related
- 8% of E-mails are porn related
-12% of total websites are porno graphic (class notes)
These are just some of the figures produced as you can see that they are "Unbelievable"

Religious Beliefs in Moden Ireland

Religion in ireland today is very different to what it was 40 years ago this is probably because of all the findings over recent time! The catholic church was once a very powerful force that ruled the land what ever they said went. this can not be said now as the majority of people today dont even go to mass on sunday. This was a mortal sin years ago and people took pride in going to mass, they would dress in there best "sunday" clothes with there head held high. With my generation this is not the case, we roll out of bed on sunday in our best "night before clothes" and a smell of drink that would "kill a horse" and the only thing we might have our head held high about is "that young one we pulled last night".
This is because we as in my generation we have a lot more money now to go out on a saturday to drink. We aren't worried about mass all we care about is having the crack! also i dont think families put as much pressure on there children to go to mass like was the case 40 years ago. Another factor which has to be taken into account is the fact that a lot of students have part time jobs and work sundays so they dont get a chance to go to mass. Ireland has become more concerned about socialising and Religious beliefs than going to mass.

Social Networking

The time had come and I was off to Portugal for my Erasmus year. I had "my tail in the air" and I was happy to be going obviously with sense of uncertainty. The usual things like family, friends going out and FOOTBALL! all came to mind. As i thought i wouldn't mind being a way and as i left for the plane all i could here is mammy saying "don't forget to ring now" and here's me saying to myself " yea sure no bother" clearly i would be having to good of a time to be ringing home little did i know!
As the weeks went on the more and more i wanted to talk to friends and family. to ring home it was fare to expensive. With a lot of time and effort i got all friends and family on to face book! "sure it was like i never left". I got full match reports on the instant messaging on face book i never missed a result so when friends were in contact i had something to talk about with the response "how did ya know bout tat" "Jayses says i this Facebooks a great job" as time went on it was my best friend it was like i never left home. It was a great way of keeping in connect.
Not only did it help keep in contact at home but with the people we meet abroad askin times to meet up and even now when its all over we are still in contact. However there are some draw backs such as you being tagged in photos when your not in the best of states! also getting abusive comments from friends and family when championship time comes around "He f***s off to Portugal and we have championship to play were did we get him from" hahahaha.

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO

Search Engine Optimisation is controling the amount of traffic from a web site through search engines via the natural way or unpaid way . It targets different kinds of searchs which may include video, local or image searchs. It looks at how the engines work and what material people are looking for. SEO can also be reffered to serach engine optimisers, which are people who carry out optimisation projects on be half of clients. SEO may be offered as a stand alone service or as part of a broader market campagin. another way seo can be used are in the following methods link farms, key word stuffing and article spinning. This in my view degrade the relevance of search results and user experiance!!http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Search_engine_optimization

Man United (A born Legend)

Man United game last night was poor but we got a result in the end. Giggs scored his 150th goal for the club, what a legend!!!!!!!!!! very impressed by John O' Shea, i know that sounds a bit biost because he's an irish man, but he has improved a lot over the years. Great goal by carrick of course Giggs was involved in the goal clever little pass back and a super finish. Serious room for improvement all the same.
